Job Summary
Manage the customs process flow for import and export shipments by transposing declaration information into the entry system, verifying document compliance, and submitting filings to customs authorities. Act as the primary liaison between customers, customs officers, and government agencies to address clearing issues, track files, and ensure timely cargo release while maintaining strict adherence to OEA, OPS, and international regulations. Execute accurate data entry, billing, and exception resolution to meet KPI standards, proactively notifying clients of delays or required actions. Escalate complex problems to management as needed and complete mandatory training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Good knowledge of customs brokerage process and system
- Good knowledge of customs legislation, especially with regards to classification, valuation and origin
- Understanding of ocean, transcon and air documentation process
- Knowledge of air, road and ocean transport
- Good knowledge of incoterms
- Hazardous Materials certification
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
- Pro-active, strong organizational skills
- Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluent in English
- Positive and willing to help attitude
- 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Meet company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training
