Job Summary
Coordinate traffic flow around active road construction and utility work zones using "Stop" and "Slow" signals, two-way radios, and hand gestures. Manage day-to-day work zone setup, maintenance, and tear-down by placing barricades, cones, and vehicle placements to ensure safety for motorists, pedestrians, and crews. Maintain equipment organization and drive company trucks as needed while adhering to Caltrans MUTCD guidelines and customer requests. Recognize dangers and handle stressful situations to prevent injuries to employees and the public. Work in high-volume outdoor locations with multiple interruptions, standing or walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Valid ATSSA Flagging certification
- Current LIUNA membership with journey person classification
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write clear instructions, explanations, and correspondence
- Ability to read, understand, and implement TCPs and follow industry guidelines
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

Desired Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of the Caltrans MUTCD
