Job Summary
Coordinate traffic flow around active road construction and utility work zones using "Stop" and "Slow" signals, two-way radios, and hand gestures. Assist in managing day-to-day work zone setup, maintenance, and tear-down while ensuring safety for motorists, pedestrians, and workers. Organize equipment in trucks, set up barricades and cones, and communicate with customers and team members to meet state and federal regulations. Drive company trucks as needed and handle stressful situations to avoid serious injuries. Maintain focus on safety throughout all functions and provide on-time arrival and well-managed work zones. Valid California driver's license with clean record and LIUNA membership required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Valid ATSSA Flagging certification
- Current LIUNA membership with journey person classification
- Current LIUNA membership with Apprentice 1-4 classification
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write clear instructions, explanations, and correspondence
- Ability to read, understand, and implement TCPs and follow industry guidelines
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Close vision

- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift, carry, and place traffic cones up to 50 lbs

- Experience driving medium duty vehicles and towing trailers
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record/insurable

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role preferred
- Valid ATSSA Flagging certification. Company willing to certify in-house
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus but not required
