Job Summary
Execute warrants, serve civil process, and enforce City, State, and Federal laws to ensure public safety and compliance with ordinances. Maintain order in Municipal courtrooms, restrain unruly subjects, and protect Judges and attorneys from physical violence. Transport arrested subjects to and from jail and conduct daily runs to banks and other departments. Recognize suspicious behavior, interview persons, and research warrants using City, State, or Federal records. Provide courtroom testimony when subpoenaed and maintain Police Officer certification with firearm proficiency. Fill out reports, maintain assigned City vehicle, and conduct yourself according to high ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic law enforcement certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Valid State of Texas Class "C" or higher Operator's Driver License
- Good driving record
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time law enforcement experience
- Thorough knowledge of principles and laws of arrest
- Knowledge of Texas Penal Code
- Knowledge of Code of Criminal Procedures
- Maintain Police Officer certification
- Proficiency with a firearm
- Maintain sufficient personal credibility
- Maintain all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements
