Job Summary
City Attorney for the City of Alamogordo, NM. Advocacy and leadership role providing legal counsel to the City Commission, City Manager, boards and departments; focus on municipal law, employment law, litigation, and legal risk management. Requires effective writing, negotiation, and courtroom skills; must be able to advise elected officials and executive leadership. Ideal candidate will be an ethical, decisive, and collaborative municipal attorney with substantial local government experience. Must hold a JD, have five years of practicing attorney experience with supervisory responsibility, prosecution experience, bondability, and NM licensure (or ability to obtain within six months); valid driver’s license. Salary range: $97,882–$151,747.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience
- Prosecution experience
- Must be bondable
- Licensed to practice law in New Mexico, or ability to obtain licensure within six months
- Member in good standing with the Bar Association
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
