Job Summary
Instruct, mentor, and engage Scouts (ages 11-17) in citizenship and personal finance merit badges, presenting to groups of 5-20 to transfer knowledge and empower application of skills. Coordinate and collect program materials, turn in accurate advancement paperwork, and participate in camp-wide activities like campfires and evening programs. Assist with setup, maintenance, and takedown of camping areas while modeling the Scout Oath and Law to maintain a clean, safe work environment. Perform additional duties assigned by leadership and adhere to staff handbook policies. Requires tertiary-level education in humanities or business, comfort presenting to youth, and ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily lifting 50 pounds. Work 55+ hours at the Justice National Scout Camp near New River Gorge National Park.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of youth and adults in classroom setting
- Tertiary-level education in humanities (history, civics, political science, etc.) and/or business coursework
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike, up to 8 hours daily
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
