Job Summary
Lead hands-on defense by actively designing, implementing, and monitoring Varo's comprehensive information security program while bridging the gap between threat intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and banking regulatory standards. Secure modern infrastructure by building and safeguarding the fully digital, cloud-native banking stack with zero-trust architecture and automated threat protection. Drive threat intelligence by overseeing proactive monitoring and incident response to identify and neutralize emerging risks before they impact customers. Navigate banking compliance by aligning security systems with OCC, FDIC, and federal regulator frameworks. Mentor and empower a collaborative security team while embedding a security-first mindset across product and engineering organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing information security within a regulated bank or financial services institution
- Solid grasp of OCC/FDIC compliance expectations
- Proven experience as a practitioner who understands the 'how-to' of security
- Understanding of cloud security architectures
- Understanding of modern infrastructure
- Understanding of automated DevSecOps pipelines
- Deep knowledge of modern threat landscapes
- Knowledge of security operations center (SOC) management
- Knowledge of proactive threat hunting methodologies
- Strong track record of building, mentoring, and leading diverse security teams
- Ability to translate complex technical vulnerabilities and risk-based metrics into actionable business contexts for the CEO, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors
