Job Summary
Supervise and instruct students in basketball fundamentals during daily practices and games. Accompany and direct the assigned team to all events, including locker room supervision and travel. Maintain facilities and equipment while ensuring strict adherence to WIAA rules and regulations. Support the head coach in conducting the athletic program, assuming head coach responsibilities in their absence. Promote sportsmanship and fair play by setting a positive example for participants and officials. Complete required onboarding, SafeSchools training, and first aid/cpr certification prior to working with athletes. Available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during the season, with weekend availability as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards
- Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletes
- Must be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations
- Must complete WIAA required training
- Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training PRIOR to working with athletes
- Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season, with availability on weekends as required
- Holds a current first aid and CPR card
