Job Summary
Provide transportation services to community members within a tribal healthcare setting, safely moving individuals to and from medical appointments while ensuring their comfort and well-being. Coordinate with healthcare providers, assist with patient care including mobility support, and advocate for clients' health needs. Translate written or verbal medical information between English and Keres, and help set up equipment for clinics and outreach events. Maintain valid New Mexico driver's license and pass background check. Extended hours including weekends may be required. Fluent in Keres and knowledgeable of Pueblo cultural values are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledgeable of a holistic approach to individual and Community Health legislation, theories, practices and procedures as well as traditional medicine and medical terminology
- Indian Health Service (IHS) Basic Community Health Representative (CHR) Certification
- State of New Mexico Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification
- CPR & First Aide Certified
- Indian Health Service Confidentiality training (HIPPA and Private Act Policy)
- Must be able to stand, bend, and walk within the community, schools, clinics, and homes
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Must have ability to translate written or verbal medical/health education information in English into Keres and vice versa
- Extended working hours, including weekends
- Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check
- Valid New Mexico driver's license
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Desired Qualifications
- Fluent in Keres language
- Knowledgeable of Santo Domingo Pueblo's cultural values, norms and traditions
