Chlorinator Technician I

Job Summary
Installs, operates, and maintains chlorination/disinfection systems (gas, hypochlorite, tablet), ensuring reliable dosing and regulatory compliance. Inspect, calibrate, and maintain chlorinators, injectors, rotameters, analyzers, and feed pumps. Mix and handle chemicals safely; change cylinders; verify leak checks and scrubber operation. Troubleshoot flow/pressure, vacuum leaks, and signal/alarm issues; coordinate with E&I/SCADA. Document PMs, calibrations, and residual testing in CMMS; support compliance sampling. Maintain parts inventory and housekeeping; follow lock-out/tag-out procedures. Respond to alarms and support after-hours as scheduled. Lead routine PM routes independently; mentor junior technicians on safety and SOPs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- 1-3 years in water/wastewater maintenance or operations with a chlorination focus
- Knowledge of chlorine/chloramine processes, safety, and chemical handling protocols
- CMMS and basic instrumentation familiarity
- Valid driver’s license
- Water/wastewater operator license a plus
