Job Summary
Provide virtual Mandarin Chinese distance-learning instruction to improve proficiency across listening, reading, and speaking (ILR 0+ to 3) using DLPT/OPI/ACTFL assessments. Deliver instruction on regional culture using blended-learning methodologies, develop lesson plans, assess student progress, and tailor content to learner levels. Maintain a positive virtual learning environment, address student behavior/attendance with the site lead, and collaborate with the POI analyst and Language Instructional Developer to address curriculum gaps. Requires US citizenship, native or near-native fluency, and access to necessary hardware/Internet; prefer experience with online platforms like CL-150 or Blackboard; Bachelor’s degree; remote work with no travel.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Educated native speaker or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience in providing foreign language instruction virtually
- Understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and tailoring materials to customer needs
- Instructor must have access to a Windows computer, webcam, headset with microphone, phone or smart tablet, and high-speed internet connection
