Job Summary
Provide attentive supervision to children in the Child-watch area while parents utilize YMCA facilities, engaging them in age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and play. Maintain a safe environment by enforcing policies, monitoring behavior, and addressing conflicts with positive reinforcement. Welcome families, manage check-in and check-out procedures, and verify membership status or waivers. Ensure hygiene standards through regular sanitization and assisting with handwashing and restroom use. Respond quickly to emergencies, administer basic first aid, and communicate updates to parents regarding children's needs and activities. Minimum age of 16 required; certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED needed within 60 days. Availability includes flexible hours, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with children and families
- Ability to maintain a calm, patient, and compassionate demeanor in challenging situations
- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Certifications required within 60 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen
- Ability to complete the following within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention; Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment training
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. at a time
