Childrens Mobile Crisis Response Team Leader - DAY SHIFT

Job Summary
Respond on-site to mental health crisis situations with a team member, providing de-escalation, support, and clinical assessment for children and adolescents. Link clients to resources and supports within the agency, Jefferson County DHR, and the community within 24 hours while maintaining accurate documentation in electronic medical records. Perform outreach in partnership with emergency departments, police, juvenile court, schools, and community agencies, and provide transportation when appropriate. Deliver case updates to the MCT Coordinator during weekly meetings and offer consultations to DHR for each intervention. Maintain required data for the agency, DMH, and Jefferson County DHR. Work 12-hour rotating day or night shifts, including holidays and weekends, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in psychology, social work, or counseling with an emphasis on clinical services for children and adolescents
- Valid Alabama driver's license
- A suitable automobile to permit the required travel
- Car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
- De-escalation skills
- Trauma-informed techniques
- Ability to make clinical decisions/recommendations
- Knowledge of and willingness to work as a member of team
- Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families
- Knowledge of child welfare services
- Knowledge of and adherence to professional and ethical principles
- Demonstrable communication skills - both expressive and written
- Ability to work in the community and manage the team's activities with a minimum of direct supervision
- Ability to utilize multiple electronic and computer-based programs, including an electronic medical record system
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their use and their side effects
- Knowledge of community and available resources
- Skilled in interpersonal relationships and dynamics
- Understanding of field safety
- Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of the children and their families
- 12 hour rotating day or night shift (including holidays and weekends), as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Prior crisis-intervention experience
- Licensure
- Two years experience working with the children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on clinical services
