Children's Services/ICW - CPS Supervisor/Intake

Job Summary
Conduct initial intake of child abuse and neglect allegations, interviewing referrers, assessing risk, and assigning cases to CPS Investigators and FVS Case Managers. Document all information in the Children's Services database, research collateral data in FamLink and PTCS files, and create comprehensive case notes. Supervise CPS Investigators and FVS Case Managers by training staff, assigning cases, and serving as a resource for departmental inquiries. Lead CPS meetings, maintain the case roster, and act as the primary contact for the State of Washington Intake line. Refer cases to Law Enforcement when criminal actions are alleged, testify in tribal hearings, and review reports for court filing. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for crisis response, while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to the Child and Family Protection Code.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. in a related field or a B.S.W.) from a four-year college or university
- four years of experience in CPS investigations
- Previous supervisory experience of two years
- Casework services
- Experience interviewing children and families
- Intermediate word processing skills (Microsoft Word)
- Knowledge and experience using spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Excel)
- valid and unrestricted Washington State driver's license
- proof of insurance
- current First Aid and CPR certification
- HIV/AIDS training certificate
- pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and CPS background inquiry every two years
- pass tuberculosis test
- ability to read, write, communicate, and interpret information accurately in English
- ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work
- ability to operate a typewriter, personal computer, multi-line telephone, calculator, facsimile and photocopier
- close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- ability to stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel and taste or smell
- ability to climb or balance
- ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be available on nights and weekends
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, evenings or holidays if needed to respond to a crisis
- Requires occasional travel using employee's personal transportation
- Must pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and CPS background inquiry every two years unless otherwise indicated
