Job Summary
Coordinate and enhance programs for children and families at Samaritan Center. Responsibilities include researching and coordinating community events, developing partnerships with local churches and businesses to sponsor children's events, providing age-appropriate social and educational activities, promoting a values-based framework, improving self-esteem through a structured reward system, observing behavior, modeling teamwork and respect, promoting healthy and safe fun, assisting full-time staff, reading charts/logs to understand residents' needs, supporting parenting, attending meetings and trainings, contributing to CQI initiatives, developing monthly group curricula, administering pre/post tests, providing data for statistics and grant reports, and coordinating tutoring and volunteer resources. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred), 1-2 years of relevant experience, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, cultural sensitivity, confidentiality, and the ability to work irregular hours; a Florida driver’s license is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred
- 1-2 years previous experience working with children and adolescents in a structured environment
- Supports the social teaching of the Catholic Church
- Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility; non-judgmental attitude
- Ability to forge mutually respectful partnerships with supervisors, co-workers and clients with an understanding and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Effective communication, organizational and domestic skills
- A commitment to empowering others to solve problems
- Valuing a nurturing family as the ideal environment for a person
- A conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change
- The ability to establish a respectful relationship with the persons served to help them gain skills and confidence
- The ability to work as a team player and work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service provider or professionals
- Possess a valid Florida driver's license

- Ability to work effectively with employees, department heads, representatives of other agencies and the public
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls
