Childcare Teacher

Job Summary
Direct the day-to-day functioning of the classroom; work with the Daycare Director to develop curriculum and daily lesson plans based on each child’s development goals; maintain a developmentally appropriate environment; supervise children indoors and outdoors ensuring health and safety; provide individual attention; guide children’s self-discipline; manage classroom organization; delegate housekeeping tasks to aides or student workers; supervise and mentor volunteers and aides; maintain teaching and care standards established by state regulatory services; conduct biannual parent conferences; assist the Childcare Director with parent programs; collaborate to ensure continuity of curriculum and high quality across classrooms; perform other duties as assigned by the Childcare Director; ensure confidentiality of children and families.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- CPR and First Aid training annually
- Pass criminal history check
- Understand developmentally appropriate practices
- 20 clock hours of professional development annually
- Effective communication with parents and staff
- Ability to assist with toileting or diapering and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Move from standing to floor frequently
- Maintain classroom organization and safety
- Direct classroom operations and assist with curriculum planning
- Maintain developmentally appropriate environment
- Biannual parent conferences
