Job Summary
Lead and supervise the after-school program for 5–12-year-olds at Meadows of Dan Elementary. Plan and run daily enrichment activities, homework support, and themed events; create a positive, inclusive environment; supervise and train after-school staff to ensure high-quality program delivery; ensure student safety and compliance with state licensing and school guidelines; communicate with families via the Playground App and assist during orientations and events; support community outreach to engage prospective families; demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism, and a solution-focused attitude. Requires Virginia-approved qualification pathways as described; part-time schedule from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm with pay between $18.00–$20.00 per hour; employer-paid childcare and benefits available. Potential for continuation beyond summer with opportunities for growth.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Graduate degree in a child-related field (e.g., education, child development, nursing, recreation) with a minimum six (6) months of programmatic experience OR Bachelor’s degree or endorsement in a child-related field with a minimum one (1) year of programmatic experience OR Forty-eight (48) semester hours or seventy-two (72) quarter hours from an accredited college or university, including at least twelve (12) semester hours or eighteen (18) quarter hours in child-related subjects, and a minimum one (1) year of programmatic experience OR Minimum two (2) years of programmatic experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory role
- One-year early childhood certificate consisting of at least thirty (30) semester hours OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent OR Certification from a recognized Montessori organization
- Management experience is defined as at least six (6) months in an administrative role involving supervising, orienting, training, and scheduling staff, OR completion of one of the following: one college-level business course, ten (10) clock hours of management training, or one child care management course covering planning, budgeting, staffing, and monitoring
- Employment Screening Requirements: Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings required by Virginia state regulations
