Job Summary

Provide continuous supervision and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children ages 0-10 in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment. Plan and implement age-appropriate educational and recreational activities that support physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth while guiding behavior through positive management techniques. Assist children with daily living activities, prepare meals according to nutritional guidelines, and administer medications when authorized. Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and development; communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and concerns. Comply with State of Alaska childcare regulations, Tribe policies, and mandatory reporting laws for suspected abuse or neglect. Set up, clean, and sanitize classrooms and equipment. Work a flexible schedule including early mornings or evenings as required.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Possession or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska with a clean driving record
Must successfully pass a criminal history and background check
Additional FBI criminal background check
Must present vaccination documentation or submit to immunity testing for Tdap, hepatitis B, measles, varicella, and influenza within 3 months of hire
CPR and first aid certifications required
Knowledge of child growth and development across age groups
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education principles
Knowledge of health, safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
Knowledge of state childcare licensing requirements and applicable regulations
Knowledge of positive behavior guidance and classroom management techniques
Knowledge of child nutrition and safe food handling practices
Knowledge of emergency response procedures, including fire, evacuation, and severe weather protocols
Knowledge of mandatory child abuse and neglect reporting requirements
Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and basic pediatric emergency procedures (or ability to obtain certification)
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
