Job Summary
Lead Teacher for the Healthy Kids Programs After School Program at Blue Ridge Elementary School (Ararat, VA), working 3:00 pm–6:00 pm. Responsible for facilitating hands-on activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum (including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and homework assistance), ensuring a safe, healthy, clean, and fun environment, acting as a positive role model for children aged 5–12, and communicating daily with parents via the Playground App. May perform management tasks such as accurate attendance, registration, and staffing in addition to following state guidelines, program policies, and host school policies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Virginia-Approved Qualification Pathways options
- Option 1: Meets one of the Virginia Program Director qualification pathways; Option 2: Bachelor’s degree in a child-related field; Option 3: Minimum 3 months programmatic experience plus one of: One-year early childhood certificate, CDA credential or equivalent, Montessori certification; Option 4: 48 semester hours with child-related subjects and 3 months programmatic experience
- Must be able to pass a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) background check
- Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties including TB
- Warm, friendly, and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
- Professionalism; dependable and punctual
- Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. and actively engage with children
