Job Summary

Communicate positively with administration, staff, children, and parents while adhering to state regulations and implementing training in child development and Montessori philosophy. Assist the Lead Teacher in daily record keeping, behavior management, and maintaining a safe, nurturing classroom environment indoors and outdoors. Report any suspicion of abuse, neglect, illness, or distress immediately to the Director and participate in ongoing professional development activities. Requires a high school diploma, willingness to receive training, and the physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with competitive pay of $16.50 per hour.

Required Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • Previous childcare experience
  • Required Shift: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
  • Ability to communicate positively and in a confidential manner by providing positive feedback and encouragement to administration, staff, children, and parents
  • Willingness to receive and implement training in child development, Montessori philosophy, Love and Logic, and adhere to all state regulations pertaining to care and supervision of children
  • Assist Lead Teacher in daily record keeping, including daily progress reports and observations
  • Help to build positive relationships with parents and their children by respecting cultural differences
  • Assist in setting behavior standards and use positive behavior management techniques that are age appropriate by modeling behavior for children
  • Aide in maintaining the classroom environment indoors and outdoors and ensure the environment is safe, nurturing, healthy and stimulating for young children
  • Follow security procedures at all times
  • Immediately report any suspicion of abuse or neglect, illness, accident or distress concerning the children, families, colleagues or self to the Director
  • Participates in on-going professional development activities and state required trainings
  • Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Clear and strong communication skills
  • Understanding all policies and procedures
