Job Summary
Child and Youth Counsellor in Mental Health at CHEO (Ottawa, ON) provides crisis intervention and multidisciplinary assessments for children and adolescents with complex and severe mental health issues across MH PSU; develops programming and activities for inpatient and day treatment programs; offers individual and family counselling; mentors students and new staff; requires vulnerabilities checks, a three-year college credential in Child and Youth Counselling, eligibility for OACYC, paediatric psychiatry experience, CPR/First Aid certification, and bilingual French-English skills. Required Qualifications
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
- Graduate of a three-year community college program in Child and Youth Counselling (Essential)
- Eligible for certified membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) (Essential)
- Experience in paediatric psychiatry (Essential)
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (Essential)
- Demonstrated excellent team work and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Knowledge of mental health treatment modalities (Essential)
- Bilingualism (French and English) (Preferred)
