Child Welfare Specialist I/II/III

Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect, conduct assessments of children and families, and prepare case reports and documentation. Provide direct services to children in placement, preserve parental protective capacities to prevent out-of-home placements, and arrange permanent plans for children when reunification is not possible. Participate in investigations of abuse and neglect, refer families to community services, and attend court hearings to provide testimony. Consult with the District Attorney and tribal partners regarding efforts to protect the child and reunite the family. All new employees complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program to learn treatment and preventive services. Extensive travel is required; a valid driver's license and car insurance are mandatory, with state vehicles available for use.
