Job Summary

Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect, conduct assessments of children and families, and prepare case reports and documentation. Provide direct services to children in placement, preserve parental protective capacities, and arrange permanent plans for children. Participate in investigations of abuse and neglect, attend court hearings, and consult with attorneys and tribal partners regarding reunification or permanent plans. Visit children in placement, refer families to community services, and complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program. Extensive travel is required; a valid driver's license and car insurance are mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years of experience related to child welfare work
  • A combination of education and experience
  • A bachelor's degree (in any field)
  • One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
  • A Master's degree
  • A Bachelors Degree
  • One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
  • Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
  • Valid driver's license
  • Required car insurance
