Job Summary
Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect, protect child safety, and provide services to families facing barriers. Preserve protective capacities of parents to prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements while conducting assessments, visiting children in placement, and preparing case reports. Participate in investigations of abuse and neglect, attend court hearings, provide testimony, consult with attorneys and tribal partners, and refer families to community services. Return children to their homes when needs are met or arrange permanent plans when return is not possible. Extensive travel is required; a valid driver's license and car insurance are mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university
- 3 years of experience related to child welfare work
- A combination of education and experience
- A bachelor's degree
- One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
- A Master's degree
- A Bachelors Degree
- one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
- Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must maintain required car insurance
