Job Summary
Child Welfare Case Manager Trainee/Case Manager at CHS oversees minors in care, conducts safety assessments, develops service plans, coordinates services and referrals, maintains documentation, testifies in court, and supports permanency outcomes. The role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, strong organizational skills, ability to work in high-stress environments, and adherence to statutory requirements and agency standards. Training pathways include Phase I Certification and supervised field practice leading to full certification; positions require a Bachelor's (Human Services-related) and a Florida Driver’s License, with potential for advancement to a Dependency Case Manager after qualifications are met. Familiarity with child welfare concepts such as reunification, TPR, dependency, and adoption is beneficial, along with competencies in planning, communication, teamwork, cultural responsiveness, and safeguarding confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field from an accredited university, preferred.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, preferred.
- Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire is required, along with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
- Prescribed Child Welfare Case Management Certification training and examination.
- A considerable period of monitored field practice under close supervision and the associated field case requirement.
