Child Welfare Case Manager/Trainee

Job Summary

Conduct child safety assessments, develop service plans, and coordinate referrals for minors placed in care due to abuse or neglect. Monitor service plan progress, maintain case documentation, and prepare status reports or testify in court regarding reunification and permanency plans. Facilitate stable placements and achieve permanency by supporting children, caregivers, and families while arranging necessary services, transportation, and drug/alcohol screens. Provide on-call support as required. DCM Trainees complete a paid classroom program, Phase I certification, and supervised field practice to advance to full certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Florida Driver's License within 30 days from hire
  • Daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle
  • Prescribed Child Welfare Case Management Certification training and examination
  • A considerable period of monitored field practice under close supervision and the associated field case requirement
  • The CHS Dependency Experience Waiver learning path
  • Two years of experience working with at-risk children and families
  • Florida Child Welfare Case Manager certification
  • Adoption Competent certificate or must acquire within 6 months of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field from an accredited university
  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • The CHS Dependency Experience Waiver learning path (for those without preferred qualifications)
  • Two years of experience working with at-risk children and families (for Certified DCM Candidates)
