Job Summary
The Child Watch role at Springfield YMCA involves directly supervising children in the care of the facility, creating a safe and positive atmosphere in line with YMCA policies, engaging with children and families, and ensuring proper sign-in/sign-out procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean Child Watch room, keeping registration cards up to date, applying positive guidance aligned with YMCA values, attending required trainings, and upholding safety standards while interacting with diverse groups. Requires ability to lift 15-50 lbs, good communication, and a commitment to quality program improvements. Shifts are Monday through Saturday from 8:30am-12:30pm, part-time, with CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid certifications needed within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- 3 months OJT or 1-2 years working with small children
- Must like working with children
- Excellent communication skills
- A commitment to continuous quality program improvements
- Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid within 30 days of hire
- Completion of required trainings
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
