Job Summary
Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities, supervise participants for safety, and lead sports or games while maintaining professional demeanor. Clean bathrooms, wipe tables, sweep floors, and lock doors as part of general housekeeping duties. Communicate effectively with parents, members, and co-workers while following YMCA policies and emergency procedures. Attend staff meetings and trainings, assist other departments, and lift children or infants as needed. Work Monday through Friday from 8:45am to 12:15pm and Saturdays from 7:45am to 12:15pm at the Shepherd YMCA Firehouse in La Jolla.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population
- Excellent customer service experience and organization skills
- Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
- CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety & Health Institute, YMCA
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with infants and children a plus
- Sincere interest in working with children
