Job Summary
Assist in planning, developing, and implementing all curriculum and program activities in the Child Watch program while guiding children's development in a safe, enriching environment. Provide careful, attentive supervision to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios, manage program resources, and facilitate a positive play environment that promotes self-control through positive guidance techniques. Uphold child protection policies, communicate regularly with parents, and ensure the program meets state regulations and YMCA standards. Multiple shifts available, including weekdays 4:00-7:30 pm and weekends 8:00-11:30 am.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must possess and demonstrate the ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities, and routines of program's children, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and equipment, and participating in outdoor activities, diapering and toileting as needed
- Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults
- Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of a Child Watch program
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
Desired Qualifications
- Current CPR/FA/AED certifications preferred
