Job Summary
Child Watch Associate (Part Time) at YMCA — Supervises and engages children in care activities, ensuring safety and positive interactions. Responsibilities include diaper changes, diapering safety, assisting with events, maintaining a welcoming environment, ADA accommodations as appropriate, communicating with parents, and upholding program standards. Requires CPR certification and the ability to manage child behavior with maturity and a friendly, non-threatening approach. Position supports children’s belonging and family engagement within the YMCA Child Watch program.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Current Infant/Child CPR certification required
- Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers and young children
- Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid the risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids that may lead to the spread of infection
- Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills with the ability and willingness to approach participants in a non-threatening manner to manage behavior and diffuse potentially volatile situations
- Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
- Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25 Lbs.), and walking
