Job Summary
Deliver hands-on care for children from infants to age 12, including feeding, diapering, and leading age-appropriate activities focused on movement, literacy, and creativity. Ensure participant safety by strictly adhering to check-in/check-out procedures, maintaining supervision ratios, and responding to illnesses, behavioral issues, or emergencies. Serve as a welcoming representative of the YMCA, providing exceptional customer service and acting as the point of contact for parent concerns when the Site Lead or Director is absent. Maintain a clean, organized environment, lock unused rooms, and monitor high-risk locations like locker rooms and bathrooms. Complete required trainings including New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire. This part-time role supports the YMCA's mission of strengthening the community through youth development and healthy living.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Minimum of 6 months experience working with children
- Minimum of 6 months experience in customer service
- Ability to engage with children in a positive and developmentally appropriate manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Enthusiastic and service-oriented
- Completion of New Staff Orientation training within 30 days of hire
- Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire
- Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire
- Completion of CPR/First Aid training within 30 days of hire
