Job Summary
Deliver hands-on care for children from infants to age 12, adapting to developmental stages and leading activities focused on movement, literacy, and play. Provide specialized infant care including feeding and diapering while ensuring safety through strict check-in/check-out procedures and adherence to supervision ratios. Respond to illnesses, behavioral issues, and emergencies, maintaining a clean environment and following all child protection and abuse prevention policies. Serve as a welcoming representative of the YMCA, acting as a point of contact for parent concerns in the absence of leadership. Complete required trainings including New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Minimum of 6 months experience working with children and in customer service
- Ability to engage with children in a positive and developmentally appropriate manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Enthusiastic and service-oriented
- Completion of the following trainings within 30 days of hire: New Staff Orientation
- Completion of the following trainings within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention
- Completion of the following trainings within 30 days of hire: Bloodborne Pathogens
- Completion of the following trainings within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid
