Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1)

Join our Grants Pass Child Welfare team as a Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1). Investigate reports of safety concerns for Oregon's children and families, conduct child safety assessments to determine risk, engage with children, families, and caregivers in a trauma-informed and antiracist framework, and determine appropriate services to ensure child safety. Responsibilities include conducting assessments and interviews, balancing the needs of the child and family with legal requirements, gathering collateral information from school personnel, doctors, therapists, and law enforcement, fulfilling documentation requirements, arranging medical evaluations and substitute care, presenting and testifying in court, and maintaining thorough records in databases. The role requires a valid driver’s license, a bachelor’s degree in human services or related field (or equivalent combinations of degree and experience), strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work in diverse and challenging environments.
