Job Summary
Child Protective Investigator in Sebring, FL: conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children; collect information via interviews; assess danger threats and caregiver protective capacities; arrange emergency placement when needed; notify state attorney and law enforcement; provide families with service linkages to resources; perform initial and ongoing danger assessments; report to the Florida Abuse Hotline. Requires valid driver license, ability to attend 8–12 week training, and certification within 12 months; background checks and drug screening are required; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred; position involves night, weekend, and holiday work and may be essential during emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and four years of law enforcement experience or active military service (honorably discharged or current service reflecting honorable status) OR
- Associate degree or 60+ credit hours from an accredited college or university and two years of professional work experience or two years of law enforcement experience or active military service OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
