Job Summary
Two-person, full-time on-campus role at Milton Hershey School: Flex Houseparents who reside in student homes to supervise 8–13 students, provide mentorship and daily routines, administer medications, drive students to activities, plan and engage in developmental and recreational activities, lead daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and oversee household budgeting and reporting. The position starts with a nine-on, three-off schedule and transitions to a placed houseparent role with ongoing formal benefits, relocation assistance, comprehensive insurance options, paid time off, and paid training. Requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of marriage minimum, both spouses aged 27+, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a commitment to a smoke-free, weapon-free campus with no on-duty alcohol.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
Desired Qualifications
- Experience living or working with youth
- Ability to supervise and mentor students in a group housing setting
- Willingness to reside on-campus in a family-like home environment
- Passion for student development and faith-based activities (devotions and chapel)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to drive student vans
