Job Summary
Prepare quality food according to tested recipes and serve meals while maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards. Operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, and fryers, and manage storage areas with portion control and proper leftover usage. Handle cashier functions, record food requisitions, and maintain daily preparation logs. Correct unsafe conditions and report issues to the supervisor. Work inside a commercial kitchen environment involving prolonged standing, moderate lifting, and exposure to hot/cold temperatures and biological hazards. Complete annual continuing education and follow district safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
- Ability to perform basic math
- Must be able to lift 15–44 pounds
- Must be able to work inside in commercial kitchen environment
- Must be able to work with hands in water
- Must be able to work around machinery with moving parts
- Must be able to work on slippery surfaces
- Must be able to work with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Must be able to work with exposure to extreme humidity
- Must be able to work with exposure to noise
- Must be able to work with exposure to vibration
- Must be able to work with exposure to microwaves
- Must be able to work with exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, mold, fungi)
- Must be able to work with exposure to chemical hazards (fumes, vapors, gases)
- Must be able to work with electrical hazards
- Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
