Job Summary
Prepare and serve quantities of food to meet menu requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, and safety. Responsibilities include following planned recipes, serving meals per schedules, promoting portion control, supervising storage and handling of food items, maintaining cleanliness of kitchen areas, operating a range of kitchen tools and equipment, and assisting with cashier functions and daily food requisitions/records. Requires ability to perform basic arithmetic, understand food preparation instructions, and collaborate with staff, students, parents, and visitors. Works under supervision in a district cafeteria setting for 190 days with nonexempt status.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience with sanitation coursework
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
- Completion of a sanitation course before or during the first year
