Job Summary
Conduct therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs while facilitating adjustment to health care experiences. Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing support to patients and families from birth to young adults. Deliver coping support for short and long-term hospitalizations, including procedures, sibling care, development, and bereavement. Maintain unit resources through ordering and stocking, and delegate work assignments to volunteers while participating in clinical training of student interns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life
- 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist
- General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‐based knowledge
- Well-developed writing skills
- Excellent communication skills including conflict resolution
- Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
