Job Summary
Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to support the psychosocial, developmental, and physiological needs of children and families during hospitalization, procedures, and end-of-life care. Assess psychosocial risks using evidence-based tools and collaborate with the healthcare team to educate patients and families regarding medical diagnoses and procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress while providing supervision and education to adult learners. Participate in continuing education to integrate new clinical knowledge into practice. Requires a Bachelor's degree in child life, CCLS certification, and pediatric healthcare experience. Schedule includes Monday, Thursday, and Friday shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm for 24 hours per week with no call, weekend, or holiday responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in child life or related field
- Certification in Child Life (CCLS) or within three years of hire
- Experience in a pediatric health care setting including completion of a child life clinical internship
- Working knowledge of child development
- Developmentally appropriate practices
- Patient assessment
- Family systems
- Psychosocial impact of hospitalization on children and families
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Oral communication skills
- Written communication skills
- Demonstrates proficiency in all child life competencies and standards of clinical practice as defined per The Association of Child Life Professionals
