Child Life Specialist - Pediatrics and PICU ($5,000 Sign on Bonus)

Plans, develops, and provides Child Life programming to meet the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families. Coordinates, schedules, and supervises all special events for inpatient pediatric areas. Collaborates with marketing and public affairs to facilitate photography and filming activities, radio, television interviews, and host corporate donors. Develops a strategic plan to reduce fear and anxiety in the healthcare environment. Prepares patients and families for procedures and healthcare experiences using therapeutic play activities as treatment tools. Evaluates child development, coping abilities, temperament, and emotional state to tailor interventions. Identifies patient and family coping strategies and applies them to support during hospitalization and illness. Implements specialized services to meet individual needs and provides consultation to other health care workers. Participates in record-keeping of vital statistics and plans/budgets for Child Life department. Provides consultations for children of patients to support visiting planning. Minimum Qualifications include CCLS and a Bachelor's degree; 1 year in healthcare with children; BLS.
