Job Summary
Assess psychosocial and developmental needs of pediatric patients and families to implement supportive interventions, including therapeutic play, procedural support, and preparation for health care encounters. Provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed education and emotional support regarding hospitalization, new diagnoses, or grief. Document all interventions and services within the patient's electronic health record while collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to advocate for family-centered care. Delegate duties to Activities Assistants and volunteers, and supervise practicum students as assigned. Obtain Certified Child Life Specialist certification within 12 months of hire. Part-time schedule of 24 hours per week with varying hours.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience
- 3-5 years preferred
- Bachelors in Child Life or related field
- Bachelors with a completed Child Life Certification
- Must have completed 600+ hour Child Life Internship
- Certified Child Life Specialist
- Must obtain certification within 12 months of hire
- Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
- Part time
- 24 hours a week
