Job Summary
The Child Life Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to meet the specialized needs of hospitalized children and their families. This role requires assessing the individual needs of children and families to plan developmentally appropriate activities, documenting child life assessments, and supervising volunteers. The position calls for excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as participation in community-based activities related to children's health. Must possess a Bachelor's degree in child life, child development, or related field, and have completed a 480-hour child life internship or fellowship.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in child life, child development, or related field
- Must have completed a 480-hour child life internship or fellowship
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or must complete certification requirement within 1 year of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preparation in child life studies preferred
- Experience in healthcare setting preferred
