Job Summary
Supervise children at all times to maintain a secure, safe environment while creating and implementing lesson plans for the 18 to 24-month age group. Prepare daily reports for each child, complete necessary classroom records, and provide positive feedback to parents. Change diapers and toilet train children where necessary, ensuring dismissal procedures are followed so each child leaves with an authorized adult. Adhere to DFPS proceedings, Catholic education philosophy, and Archdiocesan policies, including attending ongoing training and staff meetings outside of work hours. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification and first aid kit on hand daily. Work some nights and weekends in a high-stress environment, lifting supplies and adapting to a fast-paced setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years old
- One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting
- Meet state's education criteria
- Excellent communication skills
- Be a team player
- Have reliable transportation
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training)
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
- Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening
- Required to work some nights and weekends
- Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress
- Required to work in standard school conditions
- Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement
- Be an educator
- Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment and make the children's needs the primary focus
Desired Qualifications
- CDA credential preferred
