Job Summary
Youth Development Professional overseeing after-school activities for children and youth in Derby, KS, implementing Boys & Girls Clubs–style programs focused on academic success, arts, life and workforce readiness, and physical education. Duties include supervising and promoting participation, deescalating behaviors, maintaining safe, age-appropriate discipline, developing and evaluating programs to ensure safety and quality, coordinating with staff and members, and participating in trainings. Skills sought include experience with children, knowledge of youth development, ability to relate to and motivate youth, strong communication, program development and leadership abilities, flexibility, and record-keeping. May be required to drive the club van; duties include collaboration with parents/guardians and school partners, and adherence to safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to relate well with children, motivate youth and manage behaviors
- Ability to interact with the public (verbal and written)
- Ability to implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and mobile when supervising children in a group setting
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- Valid Driver’s License with little or no violations (preferred but listed)
- Pass background check and complete fingerprinting
- Must be at least 18 years of age
