Child Care Worker - Domestic Violence Programs

Job Summary
Maintain the Child Care room by supervising children at all times and prepare the child care curriculum through play and educational activities. Escort residents on outside and cultural activities while promoting nutritional diet and exercise programs. Provide feedback to the Case Manager on child needs and assist residents in finding permanent child care placements. Regularly assess the safety and well-being of all children and attend monthly staff and child care meetings. This role requires two years of experience working with children ages 4 months to 8 years, CPR and First Aid certification, and sensitivity to domestic violence and child abuse concerns within diverse communities. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility with the schedule, computer literacy, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma and /or Associates Degree
- Two (2) years' experience working with children
- Knowledgeable of and sensitive to concerns of child development, domestic violence, and child abuse
- Knowledgeable and sensitive to DV issues
- Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence within and against disenfranchised communities including individuals whom identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with mental health issues
- CPR, First Aid Certification
- Demonstrated skills in interaction with children and proven ability to engage children ages 4 months to 8 years or elementary school
- Ability to be flexible with schedule as needed
- Computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- Good communication skills
- Child friendly and energetic
