Job Summary
Assist with hands-on activities to meet the needs and interests of children while maintaining open communication with parents regarding daily milestones. Ensure a safe and clean classroom by following essential procedures and guidelines. Respond immediately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies while demonstrating full range of motion to lift, carry, or hold children weighing 10 to 40 pounds. Work in person in an early education/preschool child care center in Manhattan Beach, CA, providing supervision, care, and curriculum delivery in compliance with Bright Horizons policies and applicable laws. This on-call role offers flexibility to work in different centers with various age groups.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- high school diploma or GED
- Twelve semester units in Child Development, including the core courses of Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, Curriculum, and Principles and Practices
- Three units in Early Childhood Education Infant and Toddler Development
- AA/BA in Early Childhood Education preferred
- pass required state and company background checks
- meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements
- comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons', and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training
- work in person in an early education/preschool child care center
- Frequently lift, carry, or hold children with a range of weight from 10 to 40 pounds
- occasionally lift, carry, or hold weight more than 40 pounds
- Demonstrate full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, and otherwise fully participate in activities
- Respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies
- Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements
