Job Summary

Provide personal care to children, including toileting, diaper changing, first aid, and medication administration. Actively engage with children while ensuring supervision and safety in groups of up to 15. Plan and implement play-based learning aligned with the YMCA Curriculum and maintain positive communication with families, staff, and volunteers. Create an inclusive environment supporting children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs. Adhere to work schedules to maintain program ratios and provide notice for unexpected changes. Schedule includes opening or closing shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., or full days within that window. Requires current First Aid and CPR certification, a Vulnerable Sector Check, and up-to-date immunizations. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification OR completion of certification within first 90 days of employment
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act
  • Required availability: ongoing for a minimum of one of the following: (a) Two (2) shifts per week, consisting of opening shifts (minimum availability 6:30–9:30 a.m.) and/or closing shifts (minimum availability 2:30–6:00 p.m.); or (b) Two (2) full days per week with continuous, uninterrupted availability for all shifts scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; or (c) One (1) full day per week with continuous, uninterrupted availability for all shifts scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p...
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills with families, staff and volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round, in all weather conditions
