Job Summary
Assist in carrying out daily schedules while directly responsible for all children in care, including fostering self-help skills and guiding conflict resolution. Actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities, respond quickly to emergency situations, and intervene immediately when physical aggression occurs. Comfort upset children and redirect behavior while maintaining confidentiality and treating all families with equal respect. Lift up to 40 lbs and help teachers implement developmentally appropriate curriculum. Work a flexible split shift with daily hours dependent on enrollment. Requires a high school diploma, 960 hours of child care experience, and CPR/First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- 12 semester hours of coursework in early childhood, child development, or child related field
- 960 hours working with children
- Must meet all required qualifications as stated in Licensing Rule Book and program specific manual
- Must be flexible to work in all child care classrooms when needed
- Must be flexible to work a split shift daily
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents
- Awareness of child development theory and practices
- Knowledge of social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of preschool children
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and supervisors
- Ability to help teacher implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Help teacher implement and monitor daily School Age Child Care Program
- Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
- CPR and First Aid Certificate required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Requires lifting
- Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
