Job Summary
Child Care Licensing Specialist responsible for licensing, monitoring, conducting complaint investigations, and providing technical assistance to child care facilities and family child providers in Cumberland and York Counties. Responsibilities include explaining program policies, inspecting residences and places of business for compliance, assessing applicant characteristics, analyzing facility information, investigating and documenting complaints, assisting a specialized team of Investigators in child abuse/neglect cases, conducting informational meetings and trainings for providers, collaborating with the public and professionals in the field, and supporting applicants through the licensing and renewal process. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or Behavioral Science (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience) and willingness to travel; work is full-time with telework/field-from-home arrangements. The role emphasizes regulatory oversight to ensure health and safety of children in out-of-home care and involves flexible scheduling beyond standard hours. The position is based out of Portland or Sanford, Maine, servicing Cumberland and York counties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or a Behavioral Science area
- OR a four year combination of education, training, and/or professional experience providing services to and working directly with children and/or families
- Experience must demonstrate proficiency in public contact work, information gathering, analysis, documentation, and collaboration
