Job Summary
Early Childhood Educator, Supply (part-time, one year contract) in Chatham. Plan and deliver a consistent child-centered program in accordance with the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum for 0-6 year olds; provide quality compassionate care and support to children and families; ensure supervision and safety of children; adhere to provincial CEYA, municipal and YMCA policies; promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; exemplify YMCA core values; collaborate within a caring, supportive network; access benefits including health membership, vacation entitlement, and pension as applicable. Education/credentials include ECE plans to enroll or hold a diploma/degree asset; CECE registration in good standing for graduates; First Aid/CPR Level C; immunization requirements; ability to lift up to 44 lbs; ability to work in Canada; 18+ years old; scheduling and shift flexibility (Mondays–Fridays, no weekends; 8 shifts per month minimum) and AI screening in recruitment process.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children 0-12 years in a work or school placement setting is an asset
- Plans to enroll, or in current pursuit of a diploma in Early Childhood Education, or in pursuit or holds a diploma or a degree in a related field of study is an asset
- Early Childhood Education graduates must be registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Graduates in a related field of study must be members of their associations as required
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months
- Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older to obtain a current Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old)
- Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education and YMCA
- Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending, and stooping
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
